Michael is a dedicated Ph.D. student at Northwestern University specializing in electrochemical materials, particularly focusing on solid-state sodium-ion battery materials to combat the raw material demand issues in energy storage. Their work involves collaborating with various universities, integrating computational, synthesis, and characterization approaches to drive material discovery and innovation.
Outside of academia, Michael is actively engaged in driving positive change in the energy and climate landscape. Michael serves as an Advanced Energy Group Fellow, spearheading initiatives in grid modernization and clean transportation across the Chicago area. Through stakeholder engagement and community collaboration, these task forces work towards equitable and sustainable energy solutions.
Drawing from their extensive experience gained at national laboratories such as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Michael brings a wealth of expertise in diverse energy domains, including building efficiency, solar energy, and battery storage.
